Understanding Goals

Before creating journeys and treatments, it's important to understand Goals - they're the foundation of everything you'll do in Auxia Console.

What is a Goal?

A Goal is a measurable business outcome you want to achieve through personalized customer experiences.

Common Goals:

  • Increase purchases
  • Boost app engagement
  • Reduce churn
  • Drive sign-ups
  • Increase feature adoption

Goals answer the question: "What business result am I trying to achieve?"

The Auxia Hierarchy

Everything in Auxia Console connects back to Goals:

Goals (What you want to achieve)

Journeys (How you organize your efforts)

Treatments (What users actually see)

User Actions (What users do → contributes to Goals)

How it works:

  1. Goals define the business outcome you're targeting
  2. Journeys group related treatments that work toward a goal
  3. Treatments are the personalized messages delivered to users
  4. User actions (like purchases or sign-ups) are tracked as goal completions

Key Point: When you create a journey, you must link it to a goal. This connection enables Auxia to measure whether your efforts are working.

What are Value Events?

Value Events are the specific user actions that indicate progress toward a goal.

GoalValue Event Examples
Increase purchasespurchase_complete, checkout_success
Boost engagementsession_start, feature_used
Drive sign-upsregistration_complete, profile_created

Value Events can also track monetary value:

  • Purchase amount ($)
  • Subscription value
  • Order total

Note: Value Events are configured by your admin in Configuration > Company > Value Events. You'll select from these pre-configured events when setting up goals.

Where to Find Goals in Console

Viewing Goals:

  • Navigate to Configuration > Company > Goals
  • Or use Analytics > Goal Analytics to see performance

Goal Analytics shows:

  • Conversions (goal completions)
  • Conversion rates
  • Uplift (impact of your treatments vs. control group)

Before Creating Journeys

Ensure you understand:

  • Which goals are available - Check Configuration > Company > Goals
  • What each goal measures - Understand the value events behind each goal
  • Which goal fits your journey - Every journey must be linked to a goal

Tip: If you don't see the goal you need, ask your admin to create it. Goals are company-level settings that require admin permissions.

Quick Example

Scenario: You want to re-engage users who haven't visited recently.

  1. Goal: "Increase Engagement" (tracks session_start events)
  2. Journey: "Win-Back Journey" - linked to this goal
  3. Treatments: Welcome back message, special offer, feature reminder
  4. Measurement: Goal Analytics shows if your journey increased session starts

Next Steps

Now that you understand goals:

  1. Create Your First Journey - Set up a journey linked to a goal
  2. Create Your First Treatment - Add content to your journey
